Influenza- Can You Get The Vaccine if Hospitalized with an Acute Illness?

Influenza virus
Can you get either the live attenuated or the inactivated influenza vaccine if you are hospitalized with an acute illness?  This seems to be a common question in the hospital, frequently directed at me in passing.

The answer? Yes. Per the CDC,  persons who were hospitalized with an acute illness but who are now well enough to be discharged from a hospital can be vaccinated.

There you have it.
