International Congress on Infectious Diseases- Hyderabad, India: Day 1

The 17th International Congress on Infectious Diseases officially began this evening with an opening ceremony and a reception.

I passed the time earlier in the day by visiting the Buddha structure in Lumbini Park, then sampled some fine local food and visited the Birla Hindu Temple.

The opening ceremony featured traditional dance and music by local performers. When returning to the hotel to end the day, I passed by the house band in the bar, covering Californication by the Red Hot Chili Peppers. Nice.

Tomorrow I am leading a workshop titled ISID Workshop for Developing Infection Prevention and Control Resources and Applied Research in Low and Middle Income Countries.

Stay tuned.
